The in car camera is the core sensing device of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) .  Currently   global intelligent driving has ushered in a window of transition from L2 to L3/L4    and the number of cameras installed will increase from 3  - 8 to 8 - 12 .  According to CINNO Research    the number of cameras installed in passenger cars in the Chinese market will exceed 100 million in 2025    and the compound annual growth rate from 2021 to 2025 will reach CAGR 21% .

 

At present   in car cameras are mainly divided into front view   surround view, rear view   side view  and built - in cameras . 
The front view camera is mainly installed on the front windshield   usually equipped with  1 - 4 monocular/binocular cameras    used to achieve functions such as front vehicle collision warning (FCW)    lane departure warning (LDW)    traffic sign recognition (TSR)    pedestrian collision warning (PCW)   etc .

 

Front view cameras can be divided into front view main cameras    front view narrow angle cameras    and front view wide angle cameras based on their functions .  The front facing main camera is used as the main camera in L2 level ADAS   The main function of a forward facing wide - angle camera is to recognize close range objects    which can be used in urban road conditions   low - speed driving and other scenarios    After the large - scale installation of 8 - megapixel lenses in the future   it is highly likely that they will be banned   The main function of forward facing narrow angle cameras is to recognize targets such as traffic lights and pedestrians   which may also be cancelled with the increase of forward facing main camera pixels and field of view angle .

Side view cameras are divided into two types :  side front view and side rear view .  Side front view cameras are generally installed at the B - pillar or rearview mirror  and can participate in identifying traffic signs (TSR) and detecting lateral vehicles   The side and rear view cameras are generally installed at the front fender of the vehicle and are mainly used to achieve functions such as lane change assist (LCA)   The field of view angle of the side view camera is generally 90 °    with a detection distance of about 80m    At present    there is also a solution that uses a camera to replace the rearview mirror   called the Electronic Rearview Mirror System (CMS)
